Expensive MP3 PlayerPortable digital audio players, more commonly referred to as MP3 players, have taken the world by storm since Apple released their original 1.8” 5 GB iPod in 2001. The iPod wasn’t the first MP3 player, though.

The first of the modern successors to portable tape and CD players was produced in 1997 by SaeHan Information Systems. Their MPMan, later licensed to Eiger Labs for distribution in North America, held only 32 MB of music.

Since then, MP3 players have become as ubiquitous as cell phones—and they’re status symbols in the same way cell phones are, as well. Read the rest of this entry

EarwormsYou’re driving to work, listening to your favorite radio station, when on comes Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time.” By the time you pull into your office parking lot, you have, “Oh baby, baby” running through your head.

You hum it at your desk. You sing it on your way to the restroom. You tap it out on the conference table during your morning meeting. When five o’clock finally rolls around, your coworkers are shooting you the evil eye and you’re ready to pull your hair out.

Transfer Songs from iPod into your computerThere’s a reason why every new iPod comes labeled with the commandment the stealing music is wrong. That’s also why the road between iTunes and the iPod is (at least in theory) a one-way street. You can load up your iPod with new music from iTunes till the cows come home. But dumping the music from your iPod onto iTunes or a computer hard drive isn’t as rote.

Despite what some record industry bigwigs may believe, not everyone is desperately seeking free music. And Apple realizes that accidents happen. Hard drives crash. Computers end up at the bottom of swimming pools, in the hands of thieves or in deserted hotel rooms thousands of miles from home. Indeed, there are plenty of law-abiding, upright reasons to want to retrieve music from your iPod.

In that glorious light of openness and honesty, i-Core -with plenty of help from Apple & other Tech blogs - offers a few avenues for transferring music that is rightfully, legally yours from an iPod onto your computer. Read the rest of this entry

Geekiest Music VideosThe geek have officially inherited the Earth, as was prophesied in Psalms 37:7 (more or less) so many bearded men ago. And since history is told by the victor, I figured I should try rounding up the soundtrack to geeks’ most epic of victories.

Music videos are made to appeal to non-geek masses, but some were made by some bigtime nerds—while others are just are unmistakeably nerdy. You already know where we’re going with this, so let’s just move. Read the rest of this entry
